As a graphic designer and multidisciplinary artist, my work ranges from digital art such as poster designs and social media work, to conceptual mixed-media series with prominent use of collage and typography.
I have always struggled to conveying emotions and verbalizing my feelings, but it is important to me to always communicate something meaningful. Typography being of great therapeutic value in my work, has allowed me to express thoughts and concerns that I have never voiced before. Creating my own way of communication, incorporating text onto my work creates an in-depth record of my personal growth. The use of typography feels comfortable and intimate, it emphasizes the personal relationship between my work and I.
My interest in collage stems from the use and manipulation of photographs. Using collage as a way to document past and current events in my life, memory and collage have become parallel to each other in my work. Born and raised in Brazil I migrated to the U.S at the age of 12. Going through this transition at such a young age, all I carry with me are memories; A touch, a laugh, a hug. I manipulate these memories to highlight moments that I will cherish forever. I will continue to explore this concept using contrasting elements of photography, as I translate my perspective on memories into mixed media collages.
As a designer, combining the concept of collage and graphic design has allowed me endless possibilities. It is an extremely freeing form of design, the expressive, artsy quality of merging both art practices makes an ideal way to visually communicate through a more unique and intimate form of design.
